Confirm the people, paperwork, and timing
Use this checklist with your agent, closing professional, and association contact. Identify who handles each task and when it must be complete. Approval to purchase, transfer of title, possession, and resident access are separate milestones.
For a family-assisted or estate sale, resolve signing authority and title questions early with the closing adviser. For an occupied unit, have counsel address the lease, deposits, notices, and possession terms; a sale is not an instruction to remove a tenant or change locks.
Closing and handoff: working checklist
Pass useful records, protect private information
Give the buyer appropriate operating manuals, maintenance history, warranties, renovation approvals, and relevant association contacts. Do not transfer personal passwords, banking credentials, private screening reports, or unrelated owner information. Arrange account changes through the provider or association.
Inventory what is handed over: item, quantity, recipient, date, and any unresolved issue. Confirm whether a key, remote, ID, or access credential belongs to the unit, the person, or the issuing organization.
After the closing has actually completed
Give the association reliable confirmation of the transfer so it can update its records. Provide the buyer’s contact information through the agreed process. Confirm final account reconciliation before stopping recurring payments, and check for an accidental payment after the sale.
The buyer can then use the Century Village New Owner Checklist for utilities, payment setup, credentials, and community orientation. A friendly introduction helps the new owner know whom to contact without assuming that every move-in step was completed at closing.
