Hi, I'm Carol Freedman President of COOCVE, the condo owners' organization here at Century Village East. I'm Eli Okun, President of CVE Master Management and I am Rita Pikar, President of CenClub at Century Village East. Our three organizations share a belief that Century Village East offers world class recreational facilities and excellent infrastructure that we are improving daily we are truly blessed with a terrific and wonderful collection of excellent well-maintained facilities that we continue to invest in. We have more than 16,000 residents from all over the world, bringing with them a variety of diverse cultural backgrounds, skills, knowledge, and talents. At the same time, we recognize that our 253 condo associations and their boards are challenged more than ever to deal with rising costs and ever-increasing demands from state and local governments to comply with rapidly changing building codes and statute requirements. Our three organizations came together in 2022 and 2023 to look at several pressing challenges faced by our many condo associations and the community at large. We assembled the "Select Committee" of nine directors, three from each of our organizations to examine how our condo associations and their boards could best deal with the numerous and complex changes that are happening around us. The "Select Committee" concluded that the ideal path forward was to assist, enable, and encourage all our condo boards to operate in an open and transparent manner, communicating with their owners, while being fully compliant with the Florida statutes that govern the operations of their associations. COOCVE continues to be committed to giving already high performing buildings the recognition they deserve while assisting other buildings to perform more and more effectively. Through our various educational and resource supplying efforts, buildings are improving their budget management, amending their documents, and sharing both their problems and their successful practices for handling those problems. The committee recognized that the pursuit of excellence by our condo boards would deliver significant economic and social benefits to their owners and to the community at large. As individual boards became more effective, the overall village would benefit, and boards and owners would receive increased recognition and value. To achieve this the committee realized that a common set of standards was needed to determine excellence in board performance. The committee created a set of community standards based on the Florida Statute 718 which governs Florida condominiums, with an accreditation audit process by which it could determine if a condo association is presently complying with its governing documents and with current legislative statutes and good business practices. During the past few months, the committee has been field testing the process with several associations before they introduced it to the entire village. Century Village East accreditation is completely voluntary, and it is up to each association to decide whether to participate. We strongly encourage associations to participate in this audit of their management practices which would identify if there were any areas that need improvement. We would then provide resources, support, and opportunities to help the associations improve their performance and achieve certification of their excellence. Accredited associations will receive public recognition by a community website, organizational newsletters, the reporter publication, and communications with real estate agencies that do business in the village. Through the accreditation process that highlights the standards of a well-run organization the associations and CVE as an entire community can achieve a higher level of excellence. Join us in our community effort as we work together to strive for excellence. Tell your board of directors that you want your association to be part of this new chapter of improvement and recognition.
